Hume Cement Industries Bhd is exploring opportunities beyond its core cement business as part of its long-term growth and sustainability strategy. The company is focusing on improving profitability, increasing operational efficiency, and expanding its green product portfolio amid rising production and logistics costs.

The group recently implemented a 10% price increase to offset higher transportation expenses following stricter enforcement against overloaded trucks, which affected cement distribution nationwide. Despite these challenges, Hume Cement remains optimistic about domestic demand supported by ongoing infrastructure development projects.

On the sustainability front, the company plans to introduce two new green cement products by the end of the year, targeting a larger share of environmentally friendly products in future sales. Hume Cement is also investing over RM100 million in a waste heat recovery system expected to reduce electricity consumption and carbon emissions significantly once completed in 2027.

The company continues to prioritise operational efficiency and profitability while assessing potential diversification opportunities beyond the cement industry.
